Reviewing Vulnerability, Prevention, and Access to Care During Flu Season
Menopause is a natural yet often stigmatized transition in a woman's life, marking the end of reproductive years due to hormonal changes, particularly the decline of estrogen and progesterone. This transition, typically occurring between ages 45 and 55, is divided into three stages: perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause. Symptoms range from hot flashes and mood swings to long-term health risks such as osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease. Cultural perceptions of menopause vary greatly—Western societies often associate it with aging and decline, while Eastern and Indigenous cultures view it as a transition to wisdom and leadership. These differing perspectives influence the ways menopause is managed, with Western medicine favoring hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and Eastern traditions incorporating herbal remedies and holistic treatments.
At All4Smiles, we strive to break the stigma surrounding menopause by promoting open discussions, providing accessible resources, and encouraging well-being through education, community support, and cultural appreciation.
